Restorative/Yin yoga is a meditative, slow and passive practice, where we hold asanas(postures) for 3-5mins. We emphasize breath work to increase relaxation, activate the circulatory system, respiratory system and the para sympathetic nervous system while increasing flexibility and massaging the internal organs. While listening to soulful, jazzy and afro beats most of the class is performed seated and or laying down with the use of yoga props, and we rarely stand or get off our mat. We begin and end classes with a grounding meditation, where total relaxation is the goal. No experience needed to participate.
